On February 29, 2025, the chief of
the Chuiba neighborhood, in the city of Pemba, northern Mozambique, along with
his team, carried out a cleaning campaign at the local market.
This action was prompted by
complaints from the vendors regarding the lack of cleanliness at the market by
the municipality.
The market traders claim that, in
addition to the unfair charges for the market tickets, which are the
responsibility of the vendors themselves, the municipal council has the duty to
ensure cleanliness and maintain the market in good condition.
After trash accumulated on the
road leading to the market, neighborhood representatives arrived today to carry
out a thorough cleaning of the area.
The 4 Caminhos market, which does
not receive support from the municipal council for the allocation of trash
disposal containers, frequently faces this situation, as reported by one of the
traders.
The neighborhood leader assured
and promised the traders that, from now on, there will be a weekly cleaning
campaign at the market, according to his words. (Seven Mussa)
