After several days of hardship due to food shortages, 84 displaced households in the Administrative Post of Chapa, Mueda district, have received food aid provided by the Mozambican government.

The distribution of supplies including rice, beans, and cooking salt is part of ongoing humanitarian assistance efforts aimed at internally displaced persons (IDPs) affected by the recent terrorist attacks in Mocímboa da Praia district.

Presiding over the delivery ceremony, the Director of the District Service for Planning and Infrastructure in Mueda, Cano Amuri Salimo, emphasized that this initiative reflects the government’s continued commitment to ensuring support and dignity for communities affected by terrorism.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Chapa Administrative Post, Lutese Rumeia, stated that joint efforts are underway with local structures to identify land for the creation of community farms, aiming to reduce food insecurity in the region.

The beneficiaries expressed deep gratitude for the support, recognizing that it arrived at a time of great need.

This action marks another step in the ongoing humanitarian response, as efforts intensify to restore stability and promote sustainable livelihoods for displaced populations. (Mozanorte)
