Cabo Delgado: Malaria cases increase in the last two weeks in Mecúfi.

 

On January 30th, the district of Mecúfi launched a campaign to distribute mosquito nets, which lasted for 5 days, as part of the support to families affected by Cyclone CHIDO.

According to Reginalda Magreth Manuel, the clinical director of the Mecúfi Health Center, who spoke in our interview, the clinical situation in the district of Mecúfi after Cyclone CHIDO is under control.

The center has been setting up mobile brigades every week in all the villages to provide health assistance to the communities. No numbers was related by the source but she admits the increasing of Malaria around the Mecufi district.

She pointed out the increase in malaria cases in the last two weeks, citing as causes the fact that people slept outdoors without any control, poor sanitation conditions, and the government's and partners' launch of the mosquito net distribution campaign to reduce the malaria situation the district is facing.
