Niassa: Public works sector in Lago ensures all roads in district are passable

Generally, the rainy season brings negative consequences for road infrastructure, but the Public Works sector in Lago in Niassa province, northern of Mozambique, ensures that, as of now, all roads in the district remain passable.

Elves Romão, the district director of Planning and Infrastructure, stated that despite some difficulties, the district's roads are accessible, allowing the transportation of people and goods.

"We can assure that at this very moment, our roads are passable, although there are difficulties on routes that face challenges during the rainy season," he said.

In the same vein, Romão mentioned ongoing work on the Meluluca Bridge, which has been slow due to the rains. However, he assured that in the coming days, the installation of slabs will continue. "There is also work being done on R1209, Metangula-Meluluca, at the bridge over the Meluluca River. If it weren’t for the excessive rainfall, we would have already installed the slabs," said Elves Romão, Director of Planning and Infrastructure.

Additionally, on the Messumba-Ngoo road, the construction of the bridge in the Messumba area has been completed, and currently, the diversion of the drainage ditch, which used to pass through the cemetery, is underway. (Davide Muianga)
