Drugs seized near Police Post in Lunga Mossuril

According to a source within the police force, authorities recovered approximately 10 kilograms of amphetamines and an estimated 450,000 meticais in cash on the morning of Saturday, June 14th, during an operation carried out near the Lunga Police Post in Nampula Province.

The same source reported that the operation began around 10:00 a.m., after the police subunit received a tip-off from reliable sources indicating that part of a recently seized drug shipment had been buried near the local police unit.

"An operational team was immediately dispatched to the location, led by the current Head of Operations. After conducting a search of the area, the team found the illegal substance hidden inside a sack buried approximately 50 meters from the police subunit," the source detailed.

In addition to the drugs, a large amount of cash was recovered. The connection between the money and the case is still under investigation. "Officers from the Lunga local police unit denied having any knowledge of the presence of either the drugs or the money near the post," the source added.

The seized materials were transported to the Mossuril District Command, where they were officially recorded.

The source also warned that "This is the second drug trafficking-related case recorded in the district in less than two months. Two weeks ago, Tanzanian nationals were arrested at the administrative post of Lunga for involvement in similar activities." – Mozanorte
