The Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM) is mourning the
tragic death of Senior Sergeant Ailton João Jagage, an officer of the PRM
Provincial Command in Niassa, assigned to the 2nd Police Station in the city of
Lichinga.
According to a source, the incident occurred around 2:00 a.m. on
June 14, 2025, when it was reported that Sergeant Jagage had fallen victim to a
fatal attack carried out by unknown assailants on one of the streets in
Chiwaula neighborhood, near a local bus stop.
The same source revealed that the sergeant was struck on the
head, and the attackers took possession of his service weapon an AK-47 assault
rifle.
Authorities have already launched an investigation to identify
and apprehend those responsible. However, the source stressed that community
cooperation will be crucial to clarifying the circumstances surrounding the
