Ten Unirovuma lecturers in Montepuez expelled for "sex-for-grades" scheme

Ten lecturers from Rovuma University, Montepuez extension, have been accused of corruption and engaging in sexual relations with students in exchange for good grades, ensuring their passing.

The implicated individuals are Aires de Apriz Niperia, Andalito Romão Giltina João, Assane Meneses António Joaquim Saraiva, Cistélio Armando Pequenino Muando, Costa Alberto Rui, Mário Januário Adolfo, Sacadura Simão Salvador, Saide Daniel Aligora, and Talassamo Saide Ali. They are alleged to have frequently received money or engaged in sexual acts to "pass" students in their courses.

In response, the senior management of the Montepuez extension, which is located in Nampula city, intends to dismiss these lecturers. They have been instructed to submit their grade sheets, and their courses are to be reassigned to other lecturers from the Nampula and Lichinga extensions.

According to a directive from Rovuma University Rector, Mário dos Santos, dated June 3, an investigation report initiated after corruption and harassment were identified confirms the involvement of all ten lecturers in these practices.

To protect its reputation, Rovuma University is determined to remove these individuals. A committee will now review the grade sheets to decide on the approval or annulment of the results.  MOZANORTE
