On he night of November 10, 2025, in the village of Chamomade, Mogincual district, about 7 km from the district’s administrative center, a 3-year-old albino child, born and residing in the same village, was kidnapped.
The child was taken during the night. She was inside the house while her mother slept on the veranda. When the mother went inside some time later, she did not find the child and did not see who had taken her. She was at home only with her children, as her husband had traveled and was not in the village.
Because it was nighttime, the mother asked her brother-in-law, the child’s grandfather, and her sister for help. They then contacted the police authorities in the district’s main town (Namige). However, due to the late hour, they were instructed to go to the Namige District Command to provide further details.
After the mother, the grandfather, and the brother-in-law arrived at the District Command, they were detained for not giving sufficiently clear explanations for the authorities to understand the situation. The child has now been missing for three days, away from her family. Local and district authorities continue to investigate the case to identify the person responsible for the kidnapping.
According to some residents of the Mogincual and Liupo areas, several human rights violations have occurred in these two districts. However, many of these cases are not reported by the press, and when they happen in remote villages, the population does not know where to turn. (BP)
