A suspected armed group vandalized a residence on the night of Thursday (22) in the Chuiba neighborhood, near the wholesale market, in the city of Pemba.
According to information gathered, the group was composed of three men: one armed with a machete, another with a pistol-type firearm, and the third with a knife.
The individuals surprised the children of the household as they were heading to the bathroom, threatening them with a knife to prevent them from screaming. Meanwhile, one of the suspects entered the residence with the intention of stealing property.
However, the homeowner noticed the noise made by his daughters, left the bedroom toward the living room, and came face to face with one of the intruders. With great effort, the homeowner managed to prevent the man armed with a machete from gaining access to the bedroom.
Given the situation, the wife opened the bedroom window and began calling for help from neighbors. Fortunately, the neighbors woke up quickly and rushed to the scene upon realizing the seriousness of the situation.
With the arrival of the neighbors, the suspects fled. Fortunately, no member of the family was injured, and the intruders were unable to take any belongings from the residence.
According to the children’s account, one of the suspects was recognized, as he was not wearing a mask during the incident, allowing his face to be identified. According to them, he is an individual known in the neighborhood for involvement in several thefts.
The family also stated that this is not the first time the individual has been identified as the perpetrator of similar crimes, which is why he is considered the main suspect. The children affirm with complete certainty that it is the same person.
The children’s father went to the police to file a report, and the case is currently under investigation by the competent authorities.(Seven Mussa)
