Contrary to what was expected in several parts of the country, where health professionals suspended their activities due to delays in salary payments and the non-payment of the 13th salary, health professionals in the Nacala Special Economic Zone did not join the strike.
This information was shared by the District Director of Health, Women and Social Action Services, Jaime Combe, who stated that all health centers are fully operational, with their staff on duty and at their respective workstations.
In this context, health facilities in the urban area, such as the Nacala District Hospital, urban health centers, and the Akumi Health Center, among others, are registering a significant flow of patients presenting symptoms of malaria.
Particular attention is being given to cholera cases, and the Nacala District Hospital is prepared to handle such situations, with the installation of tents at the usual Cholera Treatment Center (CTC), operating in isolation.
It is worth noting that neighborhoods in more remote areas, such as Janga 1 and 2, Mahelene, and Quissmajulo, are the most affected by cases of diarrhea and cholera. (Gabriel Cassimo)
