At least 13 Elementary Health Multi-purpose Agents (APEs) who guarantee healthcare in areas far from health units in the Metarica district, Niassa province, have gone six months without receiving their salaries.
The affected workers state that they are going through difficult times, despite the lack of any justification provided by the authorities in the Metarica district.
They report that what concerns them the most is the silence of managers, who have not even explained the status of the process to find a solution.
Meanwhile, when confronted by journalists, the Secretary of State in Niassa, Silva Livone who happened to be visiting the Metarica district this week stated that he has become aware of the situation and promised that the APEs' subsidies will be paid. (Mozanorte)
