The population of Muinde village in the Mecúfi district
gathered in large numbers on the afternoon of Tuesday, January 7, 2025, heading
toward the building where the Administrator works to demand answers regarding
the distribution of aid following the passage of Cyclone CHIDO on December 15,
2024.
According to Umalia Assimim, who spoke to our reporters,
the community members went to the Administrator to complain about the
discrimination they are experiencing during the aid distribution. They claim
that relatives, friends of the Secretary, neighborhood chiefs, and heads of
10-households groups are given priority in receiving aid.
"This is the second time this has happened. The
first time, we saw tents set up at the houses of the responsible individuals.
That is why we want to understand who we are and which community we belong to,
as the cyclone affected all of us without exception," said one resident. (Libério Dinis)
