The
inauguration on September 18th of the new bridge over the Lúrio River,
connecting the districts of Nipepe in Niassa and Lalaúa in Nampula, was
enthusiastically received by the local population. The ceremony, which was
attended by local authorities and government representatives, highlighted the
importance of the infrastructure for the economic and social development of the
region, under the direction of the President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi.
However,
residents of both districts expressed optimism about the bridge's potential to
attract new investments. "This connection will facilitate the transport of
goods and people, which is crucial for our local trade," said a community
leader from Nipepe.
In
addition to improving access to markets and services, the new bridge is seen as
an opportunity to promote tourism and increase the circulation of people.
"We are hopeful that with this infrastructure, businesses will want to
invest here, bringing more jobs and income to our community," commented a
businesswoman from Lalaúa.
Local
authorities also emphasized that the bridge will not only improve mobility but
also contribute to regional integration. With the expectation of new
development projects, the population eagerly awaits the benefits that the new
infrastructure can bring to their daily lives.
Mozambique's
President Filipe Nyusi emphasized that the bridge puts an end to the suffering
of the population in these districts, facilitating trade in a region that is
potentially rich in agriculture. "This achievement is the culmination of
our governance plan. With this bridge, we aim to stimulate commercial activity
in these two districts and the surrounding areas," he said.
The
infrastructure was built as part of corporate social responsibility by the
Chinese company DH Mining Moviment, with financing of USD 15,000,000.00
(fifteen million US dollars), approximately MZN 950,000,000.00 (nine hundred
fifty million meticais). The bridge is 300 meters long and 9.5 meters wide.
The
bridge over the Lúrio River not only puts an end to the suffering of the
population in the Lalaúa and Nipepe districts but will also facilitate the
transportation of graphite, as the processing plant is under construction in
the Nipepe district, Nyusi in Niassa. (AA)
