The chief of the Njesse locality, Baquir Amisse
Kandemanje, made the provisional delivery to the community of that area in the
Sanga district, Niassa, northern Mozambique, of a Casa Mãe Espera under
construction at the Lumbiza health unit, on the morning of Friday, January 10,
2025.
The official responsible for the Njesse district told the
attendees that, although the house was built with contributions from the local
communities, it is the Government that constructed it, explaining to the
present population the difference between the State and the Government.
The building is 8 meters long and 5 meters wide, with two
divisions, consisting of two rooms, a living room, and a veranda. The latter
will function as a kitchen for the patient’s companions.
Those present, when interviewed, were unanimous in
stating that they feel part of the Government, praising the initiative, as the
construction of the house will reduce the hardships faced by patients’ companions
during the rainy season at the health unit, which will now be overcome.
Kandemanje explained that, despite the SIM (International
Missionary Society) supporting the roof sheets under its social responsibility
program with the Lumbiza community, much work remains to be done to complete
the house, such as plastering, flooring, windows, doors, and the allocation of
essential materials.
However, the Government official urged the community,
emphasizing that this delivery is only provisional, as much remains to be done
to complete the building. He stressed that contributions will continue to
finalize the pending works.
“It is necessary for producers from various parts of the
country who occupy land in the Njesse locality to contribute for the good of all,
in the form of social responsibility. They produce in their lands of origin and
came to this area of the locality because beans grow well here. This means it
is not just for consumption but also for commercialization,” added Kandemanje.
In another development, Baquir Kandemanje reminded the
population that the process of enrollment and registration for sixth-grade
students has been underway since January 6, calling on parents and guardians to
register their children. (Mozanorte)
