The situation in the district
of Quissanga, in Cabo Delgado, northern Mozambique, has shown a gradual return
to activities in the education, agriculture, and health sectors, but there are
still challenges to be addressed.
The population has expressed
concerns due to the lack of rainfall, which has affected crop production in the
fields, causing the products to wilt.
Additionally, the cost of
living remains high, with the prices of basic goods being significantly
elevated, as reported by a local resident.
Communication infrastructure is
also facing difficulties, with a very poor mobile network, especially in more
remote areas, such as posts and villages, where Movitel’s signal is almost
non-existent.
On the other hand, the Food
Assistance Program (PMA) has been supporting the population with the
distribution of food kits, including rice, oil, and peas, as mentioned by Abílio
Ramadane.
In terms of security, the first
few months of this year have been marked by the absence of threats from
wrongdoers, and fishing and agricultural activities are proceeding without
major issues. (Seven Mussa)
