Finally assistance reaches forgotten Chido victims in Chuiba

After a month since the passage of Cyclone Chido, the population of the Chuiba neighborhood, in the city of Pemba, Cabo Delgado, northern Mozambique, is being assisted today, February 18, 2025, with the distribution of food baskets containing 10 kg of rice, 10 kg of flour, and 2 liters of oil for those who suffered the impacts of the disaster.

This assistance is supported by Movitel, which, for the first time, is helping the victims of Cyclone Chido in the Chuiba neighborhood with a mobile phone line dedicated to supporting the victims.

According to the head of the neighborhood, Mr. Arrame, the assistance is welcome as it benefits those affected by the cyclone. However, he highlights that the support is insufficient to assist all the affected families.

One of the beneficiaries stated that the aid arrived at a time when she had no food, and for her, it represents a great relief.

Another beneficiary lamented that the assistance was inadequate, as only a few people benefited, while many families were left out. She considers this situation unfavorable.

The project came as a surprise to the community, but the quantity of available products was limited, which prevented it from reaching many families.

However, it is known that many houses were destroyed due to Cyclone Chido, as mentioned by the neighborhood chief. (Seven Mussa).
