Two months after the passage of tropical cyclone Chido
in Chiúre, which devastated part of the public and private infrastructure,
particularly in the education and health sectors in the district, the health
sector in Chiúre has been providing assistance to the most affected health
units through mobile brigades, with the support of cooperation partners, in
order to ensure the health of the population and reduce long distances in the search
for these services.
This was stated by Letícia André, the District Director of
Health, Women, and Social Action in Chiúre, in an interview with Mozanorte.
Letícia informed that the most affected units in the
district are the Health Units in the localities of Marera and Samora Machel, in
the Ocua Administrative Post, and the newly built health unit in Marupa,
located in Jonga, in the District Headquarters. The latter was constructed in
the village that received the most internally displaced persons, with the aim
of ensuring their health care.
The spokesperson also mentioned that the sector has a
sufficient stock of medicines in all health units to address any disease
outbreaks that may occur during this rainy season. (Taibo Issufo).
