In Nacala-Porto traffic accident results in two deaths and five injuries

This is an accident that occurred on the morning of this Wednesday, in the outskirts of the Locone neighborhood, in the district of Nacala-Porto, Nampula Province, north of Mozambique where a minibus with a capacity of 15 seats and the same number of passengers, heading to the district of Nacala-a-Velha, suffered a flat tire. Unable to control the vehicle, the driver lost control and the vehicle overturned. At the scene, two women lost their lives, while two others were seriously injured, and three sustained minor injuries.

Some witnesses at the scene described what happened: "This minibus, which operates the Nacala-Porto to Nacala-a-Velha route, just overturned after a tire burst. The vehicle was speeding, many people were injured, but the two women died, while the driver almost didn’t suffer any injuries."

"The impact was strong. I jumped out of the car because I realized the situation wasn’t good. I felt the tire burst and decided to jump out," said the bus conductor.

The Nacala-Porto General Hospital, also known as Ceta, confirmed the arrival of two fatalities at the scene of the accident, as well as five injured individuals, three of whom are in serious condition and two in mild condition. The two individuals with minor injuries have already been discharged, while the three serious cases remain hospitalized and are receiving medical care.

Our sources indicate that this is the second traffic accident recorded in the district of Nacala-Porto in less than two weeks. The first, while resulting in injuries, did not lead to fatalities, and the victims were classified as either lightly or seriously injured. (Gabriel Cassimo)
