60 activists receive certificates after completing environmental education course in Pemba

The Municipal Council of Pemba City awarded participation certificates this Wednesday, May 14, 2025, to 60 young activists who successfully completed the first edition of the 2025 Environmental Education Course. The training, which began on April 15, was held in partnership with the E35 Foundation and AMEC Rural, and involved youth from all neighborhoods across the city.

Throughout the course, participants received technical training on key topics such as proper solid waste management, environmental preservation, and the promotion of sustainable practices within their communities. The initiative is part of the municipality's efforts to strengthen environmental awareness and encourage civic participation in protecting the urban ecosystem.

The certificate ceremony was marked by moments of celebration and recognition, with special mention of the most dedicated trainees, who may be offered paid internships within municipal environmental programs.

The Municipal Council reaffirmed its commitment to civic and environmental education for young people, emphasizing that this first edition is only the beginning of a broader series of educational initiatives aimed at building a cleaner, greener, and more resilient city. (CMC Pemba)
