The
notable presence of Rwandan and local Defense and Security Forces (FDS) in
certain areas of Ancuabe district, in Cabo Delgado province, has not been
enough to prevent the resurgence of terrorist activities in the region in
recent days.
Local
sources reported that, taking advantage of this gap, terrorist groups have been
moving freely through various villages, holding meetings and spreading their
extremist ideology.
According
to resident reports, the terrorists have recently visited several communities,
including the villages of Nanduli, Natocua, and others nearby, where they
openly urged the population to follow religious rules imposed by them.
Sources
also indicate that the insurgents’ presence has become more constant and
increasingly organized, raising concerns about the safety of local populations
and the district’s stability.
“They
appeared in broad daylight, gathered people, and spoke about their religion.
They said they want everyone to follow their rules,” said a Nanduli resident,
speaking on condition of anonymity.
In
Nanduli, they attacked on the 20th, looted food supplies, and burned down two
homes. (Mozanorte)
