These data were announced on the morning of yesterday, January 14, by the District Chief Medical Officer. Since the onset of waterborne diseases, the district of Nacala-Porto, in Nampula Province, has recorded a total of 221 cases of diarrhea and 2 confirmed cases of cholera.
According to the District Chief Medical Officer, Julfrique Júlio Bila, the cases were reported starting from January 8, when patients presenting symptoms of these diseases were diagnosed. The health sector has been closely monitoring and managing the cases, particularly those related to poor hygiene, commonly referred to as “dirty hands disease.”
The data were also publicly presented during a multi-sectoral conference held in the session hall of the Nacala-Porto District Government. (Gabriel Cassimo)
