Nacuca residents kill crocodile after village invasion

Last Sunday, March 22 of the current year, residents of Nacuca village, located in the Administrative Post of Mararange in Montepuez district, southern Cabo Delgado, killed a crocodile that unexpectedly appeared in the community.

According to local reports, the animal is believed to have strayed from its usual route along the Montepuez River and ended up entering the village, where it was eventually killed by residents. Community sources explained that although it is an amphibious animal, it is not accustomed to living among humans, which increased fear among villagers.

This is not an isolated case. According to residents, this is the second recent incident involving dangerous wild animals in the village. In February, a group of four hyenas invaded the same community, resulting in the death of an 8-year-old child.

The population has expressed concern over the recurrence of such incidents and is calling on the relevant authorities to strengthen measures for protection and control of wildlife in the region. (Abel Buruhane)
