In a telephone interview this Tuesday, April 21, the district administrator, Genuína Nangundo, clarified that despite the lack of gasoline, there are sufficient diesel reserves for emergency situations, especially to ensure the operation of hospitals.
She added that fuel supplies are expected to be replenished in the coming days.
Meanwhile, the situation in the district of Namuno is different. The local administrator, Tecla Mbedo, also in a telephone interview with Mozanorte on the same date, assured that there are no supply problems.
According to her, the two fuel stations in the district have products available and are operating normally, ensuring regular service to consumers.
In the city of Pemba, however, the situation appears more tense. On Tuesday morning, around 9 a.m., the reporting team observed that the only fuel station that supposedly had fuel was not serving customers. People at the scene expressed frustration, claiming that fuel had been available until about 4 a.m., but was later cut off without clear explanations.
Frustration grew among many motorists who faced long queues without success. Some ended up giving up, while others chose to remain in the hope of getting fuel.
Elton Jorge, one of the citizens present, criticized the situation, stating that decisions like this directly harm the population. According to him, only the station located in the Salimo area had gasoline at that time.
Another citizen, identified as Abdul Latifo, reported that he had been in the queue since 4 a.m. without yet being able to refuel. Even so, he said he did not intend to give up, hoping to get at least two liters of fuel to be able to return home.(Maria Forquilha)
