The completion of the first course at the Special Forces Training School marks a new stage in the preparation of Mozambican military personnel for highly demanding missions, at a time when the Defence and Security Forces face complex national security challenges.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence and Security Forces, Daniel Chapo, said that assuming command responsibilities must be accompanied by a strong sense of responsibility, discipline, and commitment to the defence of the homeland.
According to the Head of State, the training received by the military personnel must translate into effective operational capacity on the ground, particularly in situations requiring technical skills, physical endurance, courage, and decision-making ability.
Chapo reminded the graduates that, upon completing the course, they assume greater responsibilities in representing the State and protecting communities.
The President also stressed the need for Special Forces to act firmly against threats to national security, including terrorist groups operating in Cabo Delgado, while maintaining respect for the people and State institutions.
On the occasion, the Commander-in-Chief reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to continuing investment in the modernisation of the Mozambique Defence Armed Forces (FADM), through enhanced training, the development of military doctrine, and the acquisition of equipment and other operational resources.
According to Chapo, investing in the preparation of men and women for specialised roles is part of efforts to strengthen the FADM’s capabilities and their ability to respond to threats affecting the country’s security and stability.
At the conclusion of the course, the Head of State urged the new commanders to make discipline, loyalty, competence, and a spirit of sacrifice the pillars of their professional conduct.
“Patriotism has no price, and the defence of the Mozambican homeland and the protection of the Mozambican people” should remain, according to Chapo, among the main responsibilities of those who wear the uniform of the Defence and Security Forces. (MozaNorte)
