Following the devastating
Cyclone Chido, which left many families vulnerable, particularly in terms of
food security, a nutritional initiative was launched, providing vitamin-rich
cereals to combat malnutrition in the most at-risk groups.
The initiative was led by
the wife of the Governor of Cabo Delgado province, Valige Tauabo, and will
benefit 400 children and elderly people.
The distribution of the
supplements took place on February 1st of this year.
In addition to the
nutritional porridges, other items were also distributed, including three
sewing machines, a set of clothes and bedding for a child, and three
wheelchairs for individuals with mobility impairments.
The initiative also plans to
expand to other districts affected by the cyclone, such as Pemba, Metuge,
Namuno, and Chiúre. (Sifa Artur)
