CHIPILE - MICUIO section at risk of cutting off road communication in LAGO

This refers to the stretch that connects the neighborhoods of Chipile and Micuio, specifically at the bridge over the Lichemange River, in the town of Metangula, Lago District, Niassa Province. The bridge is being eroded due to the heavy rains experienced since last month, which have raised the water level of the Lichemange River.

As the river receives water from upstream, its volume increases, and as a consequence, it erodes the road, reducing its width.

Isac Saide, a taxi driver interviewed by Mozanorte, expressed concern about the destruction of the road, which is putting the lives of road users at risk.

"The road situation is not good. More and more, the river is destroying the road, and even the bridge itself is at risk. One day, there could be a car or motorcycle accident," Isac lamented.

On the other hand, Isac Saide and Neufara Assane appeal to motorists and taxi drivers to be cautious when reaching the area before crossing the river. They also call for a quick intervention from the relevant authorities to prevent a worse situation.

"I am just asking the government to come here and solve this problem before an accident happens. I urge drivers and motorcyclists to pay attention when they reach the river and not cross it recklessly," they appealed.

Ámine Yassine, the secretary of the Chipile neighborhood, expressed concern about the situation, stating that the previous municipal and district government leaders were aware of the problem but did nothing to address it.

"This problem is not new. The former district administrator and the previous municipal government knew about this issue. Even the former president came here to see it, but nothing was done! This road is getting narrower and narrower," said the neighborhood secretary.

On the other hand, Ámine reassures the population, stating that the government already has a plan to intervene on the road to minimize the problem and prevent any casualties. (Davide Muianga)
