Despite life continuing, the rural areas of Nampula continue
to face security challenges. For example, recently the district of Memba
experienced an incident of houses being burned down.
According to a source, on January 3, a group of unknown
wrongdoers set fire to at least five houses in a community called Geba. The
sources did not provide many details, but they did mention that the police have
opened an investigation into the incident.
In the district of Mecuburi, there was also a criminal
occurrence that poses a danger to the lives of people in rural areas. For
instance, on January 13, a group of wrongdoers allegedly abducted three men
while they were working on a farm in the locality of Namina.
The abductors were dressed in military uniforms and wore
face masks. However, the source stated that the National Criminal Investigation
Service of Nampula (SERNIC) is investigating the case. (Mozanorte)
