Local Voices: Nampula: Administrator of Liúpo embarrasses employees by calling them thieves

This was happening, but after the social upheavals, it seems to be happening too much, which is why a cry for help is being raised, as described below.

The administrator of Liúpo is considered an arrogant leader who allegedly uses her power incorrectly. This has made Liúpo one of the districts where local authorities make it difficult to provide services both for their subordinates and for the population.

During the campaign, the district received several goods to distribute to the population and some employees, such as bicycles, motorbikes, boat engines, fishing nets, machetes, hoes, motobombas, among others.

However, it is said that the administrator stored these goods, and when the protest occurred, the warehouse was vandalized, with the goods being recovered by the protesters.

Furthermore, she accused the local employees of Liúpo and the agents of the Mozambique Police (PRM) of being responsible for the theft, calling them "thieves."

The reason for the accusation is that the police were the first to enter the district, and the locals are relatives of the protesters.

According to the population, the main reason for the vandalism of the palace was the failure to distribute the goods that the government allocated to the district. As a result, the employees are unhappy and demoralized, particularly due to the insulting words that the administrator has publicly directed towards the state agents.

After the vandalism and destruction of the palace, she began living in one of the health houses in the district. The situation of public services in Liúpo is difficult, as the vandalism of the offices has affected the functioning of various sectors.

The province, in this case, the provincial government, has not yet taken any action, but the district of Liúpo itself does not have the funds for infrastructure rehabilitation. (BP)
