Cabo Delgado launches the 2025 fishing campaign

The 2025 Fishing Campaign was officially launched on Monday, March 17, 2025, in the province of Cabo Delgado, in the city of Pemba.

In his speech, the Governor highlighted that in order to achieve a world free of malnutrition, it is essential to address the threats faced by both marine and inland fishing, such as the depletion of fish stocks, the increasing demand for aquatic foods, marine ecosystem degradation, and climate change.

Tauabo emphasized the need to adapt fishing practices, while preserving aquatic habitats, which are vital sources of livelihood and food security for many families, especially fishing communities.

Fishing and aquaculture are key economic activities for the trade balance, food security, employment, and tourism in the province, with the overall production volume showing progress over the years.
