Masheiks still pose a serious threat to the village of Mocímboa da Praia

The "masheiks" (terrorists) continue to be a significant threat to the residents of Mocímboa da Praia, located in Cabo Delgado, as the region remains fertile ground for this group.

Reports indicate that last week, they managed to infiltrate the village by changing their clothing to blend in as civilians among the population. Once inside, the "masheiks" were seen circulating in various parts of the village, particularly in the Milamba and Nabubussi neighborhoods.

These two areas, which have already been severely affected by terrorism, are also where a large number of masheiks originated.

Their presence raises serious concerns about security, which is currently being provided by Rwandan forces and the Mozambican defense forces.

According to available reports, during their walk through the village, the masheiks engaged in casual conversations with people and purchased food items before returning to their quarters, which are not far from the village.

In recent weeks, masheiks have also been spotted in nearby villages such as Ulo, Malinde, and Mbau, among others. (Mozanorte)
