Armed men kill one and kidnap three in Macomia

The district of Macomia, located in the central region of Cabo Delgado province, continues to experience attacks carried out by armed men, allegedly terrorists. From the coastal area to the district headquarters, such incidents have become recurrent, and despite the presence of the Defense and Security Forces, little has changed.

On the night of November 10, 2025, at around 9 p.m., armed men killed a man at his stall. According to reports, the attackers arrived at the scene and spoke with the victim, while others hid nearby, waiting for the right moment to strike. Unaware of the danger, the victim was taken by surprise  he was shot and left lying on a corner near his home, in the Nanga A neighborhood.

The following morning, there was great unrest among local residents, who lamented the incident.

In Macomia, this is already the third case of this kind in recent times. During their retreat, the attackers kidnapped three women from the same neighborhood. According to information gathered, around midnight the families of the victims received calls from the kidnappers demanding 150,000 meticais for the release of the three women 50,000 meticais each.

The first signs of unusual movement in the area appeared on November 9, when the so-called Mababus were seen in the village of Muagamula, heading toward the district headquarters. The Defense and Security Forces, together with local forces, were alerted to the situation, but on the night of the 10th, the attack took place without any immediate reaction from the authorities on the ground.

The alleged terrorists appear to have changed tactics, avoiding large-scale direct attacks and opting instead for smaller, discreet actions that keep the population in constant fear.
