Suspected insurgents have been identified as responsible for the destruction of agricultural crops still under cultivation in fields located between the villages of Napala and Nanjaba, in the district of Macomia. The incident occurred on Wednesday, 24 December.
Local sources reported that, in addition, huts belonging to farmers were destroyed. However, no injuries were reported, as many producers had already withdrawn from the area after noticing unusual movements in the zone.
Meanwhile, the farmers have returned to their fields and, despite the losses, are lamenting the situation and seeking to sow their crops again.
The same sources added that insurgents had not been seen in the region for several days. According to reports, in the coastal area of Macomia, life is gradually returning to normal, although there remains significant concern related to the alleged poor conduct of the Defence and Security Forces.
