More than seven thousand people in Nicuapa village, Montepuez District, Cabo Delgado Province, will now benefit from improved access to safe drinking water following the inauguration of a new water supply system.
The infrastructure was inaugurated by the Governor of Cabo Delgado Province, Valige Tauabo, during a ceremony attended by local authorities and members of the beneficiary community. The project aims to strengthen access to clean water for household consumption, contributing to improved living conditions for residents.
Speaking at the event, the Governor highlighted that with the commissioning of the Nicuapa system, Montepuez District now has a total of 354,139 water sources, significantly reinforcing the water supply network in the area.
Valige Tauabo also revealed that the current water supply coverage in Cabo Delgado stands at 65 percent, meaning that 65 out of every 100 people have access to safe drinking water.
He called on the community to use water responsibly, avoiding waste and practices that may compromise its quality.
The Governor further urged residents to protect the infrastructure from acts of vandalism in order to ensure its sustainability and continued benefit for future generations. (Mozanorte)
