Metangula Naval Base defeated Ferroviário B of Lichinga 4–0 on Sunday afternoon in a match of the 2nd Division of the Provincial Football Championship, played at the Metangula Municipal Stadium.
After an evenly contested opening phase, the home side broke the deadlock in the 42nd minute of the first half through Pogba, who capitalized on an opportunity to give Metangula Naval Base the lead.
In the second half, the Metangula team returned with greater determination and scored again in the opening minutes. Pogba once more made the difference by netting his side’s second goal, extending the advantage to 2–0.
Ferroviário B attempted to respond but struggled to create dangerous chances in front of the opposition goal. In contrast, Metangula Naval Base maintained control of the match and took advantage of the spaces left by the visitors.
In the 74th minute, Diogo, who had come on during the second half, increased the lead to 3–0. In the closing moments of the game, Dembele added the fourth goal, sealing an emphatic victory for the home side.
The match was also marked by the dismissal of Ferroviário B’s coach and protests from the visiting team after the final whistle. Representatives of the Lichinga club expressed dissatisfaction with some refereeing decisions and the condition of the playing venue.
With this result, Metangula Naval Base moves to six points from its first two matches of the competition and now prepares for an away fixture against Águias Especiais in the next round of the championship. (Farnásia Faustino)
