Patients report shortage of medicines at Mocímboa da Praia Hospital

Residents of Mocímboa da Praia have reported a concerning situation at the local hospital, where there are allegedly shortages of medicines and certain medical supplies needed for diagnostic tests, reportedly affecting patient care.

According to the reports, as of last week, even paracetamol was allegedly unavailable at the health facility. As a result, many patients receive prescriptions but are forced to search for medicines in neighborhoods around the town, where some residents sell them in an attempt to fill the gap left by the hospital pharmacy.

The allegations also indicate that some essential supplies for malaria testing are reportedly unavailable, making it more difficult to diagnose one of the region's most common diseases in a timely manner.

Those raising the concerns are calling on the health authorities to strengthen supplies to the hospital and ensure the availability of essential medicines and medical materials needed to serve the population.

Another resident fears that the situation could also affect maternity services and is urging the authorities and their partners to intervene immediately. (MozaNorte)
