A group of insurgents attacked farmers’ fields in Mitope village, in the Diaca Administrative Post, Mocímboa da Praia district, last week, resulting in one death.
The victim was a woman who was shot under unclear circumstances. During the same incident, several people were taken hostage, while others were released after a ransom of 23,000 meticais was paid.
Mitope village has been used as one of the routes taken by insurgents when travelling to or returning from areas of Nangade district. The area has been targeted in several attacks, including an attempted assault on a position of the Defence and Security Forces.(MOZANORTE)
