Quinga has been reclaimed by the Defense and Security Forces
(FDS), and the leader of the violent protesters has fled.
On February 11, 2025, the Rapid Intervention Unit received a
mission from the provincial command. Upon arriving in Liúpo, they joined their
colleagues from the Protection Police (PP) and the Coastal and Fluvial Police
(PCLF) and entered the Quinga Administrative Post at 2 AM. However, they found
the population well-prepared, as it is an area that does not sleep, especially
with the rumors circulating in the neighborhoods.
Due to the area's insecurity, the forces remain on alert and
are consistently engaging with the community, providing guidance and
reassurance.
As soon as the forces arrived, the régulo (leader), the head
of the violent protesters, who had been elected by them as their leader, fled
with his closest associates. The mission was to encourage the population not to
live in fear.
After the post was reclaimed, the commander overseeing the
mission, at around 3 PM, convened a meeting to raise awareness and discourage
deviant behavior in the community.
At 5 PM, a team consisting of the administrator, the
director of education, and health center officials, among others, arrived.
During this meeting, the commander gave the floor to the population, who
expressed the desire for good relations. (BP)
