The repair of the road connecting the Escritório-Feria to
Chuiba, in the city of Pemba, Cabo Delgado, has been completed after heavy
rains last month caused erosion in the area.
The intervention was necessary to ensure the safety and
mobility of users of this important route for many residents in the expanding
area of Pemba city.
Work began on February 10, 2025, following numerous
complaints from residents to the local government and the municipal council of
the city.
According to a local resident, Mr. Amuza Saide, the
situation has been partially resolved, although the process is ongoing, as
erosion tends to return after every rainy season.
Passengers expressed satisfaction with the improvement, as
the road, which was previously dangerous for vehicles, now offers more safety.
This route, which connects the office to the Chuiba market,
is of great importance for the municipality's revenue, especially for the
neighborhoods along the way. However, as mentioned by a minibus driver, the
municipal council has not given the issue the attention it deserves. (Seven Mussa)
