According to the spokesperson for the PRM of Nampula, Dércio Samuel, there was no killing of Namparamas members at the Aube administrative post in the Angoche district on 06/02/2025.
He explained that what occurred was a confrontation triggered by a claim of unfulfilled agreements, where the protesters attempted to destroy private and public property and capture the head of the administrative post to kill him.
In response, the Angoche district command sent a group of PRM members to control the situation.
The protesters were armed with machetes, stones, sticks, spears, among other objects, totaling about 100 men, all wearing red ribbons tied to their heads and arms, Dércio Samuel emphasized.
As soon as the members of the Mozambique Republic Police arrived, they were met with violent acts using the aforementioned instruments, which forced the PRM to fire shots to disperse the aggressors, but they did not give up, he continued explaining.
The PRM spokesperson clarified that the confrontation resulted in seven (7) Namparamas members being injured and one PRM member, with both serious and minor injuries.
The rest fled, and the Mozambique Republic Police continue the pursuit to hold them criminally responsible. "All the injured were assisted at the health center, and the situation was normalized, with no arrests," he explained.
"There were no fatalities, neither among the Namparamas nor the police," he said, avoiding confirming any deaths. The spokesperson stated that the PRM would not comment further on the case and advised journalists to consult the health center, as all the injured were treated there but under police custody.
Sources from Mozanorte confided that the agents on the ground
were instructed not to share any information about the incident, let alone
photographs of the killed. (BP)
