The Quionga vessel has been docked at the Port of Nacala, in Nampula Province, for a week, awaiting the arrival of a team from Maputo to receive operational instructions, along with several senior officials from the Coastal, Lacustrine, and Fluvial Police (PCLF).
Between 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. on April 16, 2025, the National Director of Logistics of the PCLF Branch Command arrived at the site, accompanied by the Commander of the PCLF Regiment in Nampula Province.
The team’s mission was to officially receive the Quionga vessel, which is assigned to the city of Pemba. At the port, operational instructions were provided by a technical team from Maputo. This police branch already has trained personnel prepared to operate the vessel.
The vessel's primary objective is to
strengthen the patrol activities of the police force along the maritime zone of
Cabo Delgado Province. It remains in Nacala pending the completion of the
handover process, after which it will proceed to its final destination. (BP)
