A total of 150 young people from Muidumbe district, in Mozambique’s Cabo Delgado province, received self-employment kits on Monday, July 7, as part of an initiative aimed at promoting job creation and reducing youth unemployment. The handover ceremony took place in the village of Namacande.

The beneficiaries, who completed vocational training in Civil Metalwork, Tailoring, and Carpentry, received the kits through a reintegration and empowerment program led by the Government of Mozambique in partnership with international cooperation agencies.

Speaking on behalf of the District Administrator, Kenneth Sabith Assilia, the District Permanent Secretary, urged the young recipients to take good care of the equipment and practice fair pricing when selling their products.

The recipients expressed their enthusiasm for the initiative and pledged to use the equipment effectively in order to generate income and contribute to the development of their communities.

This marks the second time that youth in Muidumbe have received self-employment kits. The first distribution took place on November 21, 2024, benefiting a similar number of young people.

The program is part of broader efforts by the Mozambican government to promote self-employment and support post-conflict recovery in the northern regions of the country. (by Mozanorte)
