Displaced people in Silva Macua village face challenges and consider returning to Their Homeland

Many displaced individuals who settled in Silva Macua and Nangumi in Ancuabe district in Cabo Delgado villages are facing various challenges, which are making them consider returning to their homeland.

The lack of humanitarian support, which was always insufficient, has now been completely cut off. Furthermore, those who received borrowed land from the locals to cultivate are being evicted by the landowners.

As a result, many feel the need to return to their land of origin, according to a displaced person. Some have sold their houses, which were built through their own efforts, while others have abandoned them or left them with neighbors, hoping to have a place to stay if they return.

Some young people also reported the existence of projects aimed at providing vocational training for displaced individuals.

However, they claim that they only heard that the training had started, but the beneficiaries were not the displaced people, but rather a group of acquaintances chosen by those responsible for recruiting the youth. (Sifa Artur)
