In Ancuabe: Nankumi gets a new type 2 Health Centre

The community of Nankumi, in the Metoro locality, Ancuabe District, Cabo Delgado Province, now has a new Type 2 Health Centre, inaugurated this Friday (12). The facility was funded by the World Bank and implemented by the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) as part of efforts to strengthen the local health network.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the Governor of Cabo Delgado, Valige Tauabo, said that the opening of the health unit demonstrates the Government’s commitment to ensuring access to quality health services for all communities, including the most remote ones. He further emphasized that investment in the health sector is essential to improving the population’s living conditions.

Meanwhile, the Provincial Director of Health, Magido Sabuni, explained that the new centre will benefit both local residents and displaced populations living in surrounding communities, helping to reduce the long distances patients previously had to travel to access medical care.

For his part, the Administrator of Ancuabe District, Belmiro Casimiro, called on the population to make responsible use of the facility, preserve the equipment, and cooperate with health professionals to ensure the smooth operation of the unit.

The Nankumi Health Centre is equipped with maternity services, a laboratory, pharmacy, triage, outpatient consultations, and sanitation facilities, and is prepared to serve thousands of patients from neighboring communities.

The new facility joins the recently inaugurated Marokani Health Centre, further strengthening the health sector’s response capacity in Ancuabe District.

Beneficiaries, including families displaced by terrorist attacks, have expressed satisfaction and hope for improved services free from bureaucracy, illegal charges, and shortages of medicines. (Mozanorte)
