A case of domestic violence, which was recorded on video and later shared on social media, shows a man identified as Mamudo brutally assaulting his wife, shocking the public. In the video, it can be seen that the people present were unable to stop the assault or simply ignored the act, while some appeared indifferent and others only filmed it.
It was through the circulation of the video that the authorities became aware of the case and have stated that the aggressor, a resident of the Chuiba neighborhood where the crime occurred, was arrested and will be held accountable. The assault took place on December 25.
The suspect, 39 years old, justified the attack by claiming that his wife refused to give him spaghetti pasta. He further added that he acted under the influence of alcohol he had consumed.
The spokesperson for the Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM) in Cabo Delgado, Eugénia Nhamussua, called for the reporting of cases of gender-based violence and discouraged the use of violence as a way of resolving conflicts. (Mozanorte)
