On December 25, 2025, in the district of Palma, northern Cabo Delgado, around midday, an owl landed on a coconut palm and, suddenly, the tree began to burn, with no clear indication of where the fire came from.
The incident occurred in the Palma Residence area, where the local population became very concerned about what they witnessed at noon.
According to residents, it was the first time an episode of this kind had happened in that area.
The situation frightened residents of the area and of the town of Palma in general, leading some people to record videos and share them on social media; however, there is still no explanation.
The event was considered very strange, and residents expressed their discontent. Despite the fire consuming the coconut palm, the animal was unable to leave the site, remaining there while the flames burned.
The episode is causing great concern among residents of the district capital of Palma. So far, the origin of the fire and the circumstances involving the owl at the scene remain unknown. (BP)
