Since yesterday, the 22nd, the final registrations for the COVID-19 subsidy have resumed in what is the largest neighborhood of the district of Nacala-Porto, in Nampula Province, northern Mozambique. Beneficiaries expressed satisfaction with the opportunity to receive a mobile phone card that guarantees payment of the subsidy, which will likely be used during the upcoming festive season.
On Tuesday morning, the Mozanorte team visited the payment center in the Triângulo neighborhood, Post No. 10, where they spoke with some beneficiaries.
“It will be good to receive this subsidy at this time because we can buy a basic food basket during the festive period. Even though it takes time to access the money, it is an advantage,” said one beneficiary present at the site, who preferred to remain anonymous.
Meanwhile, João Lourenço said he had been eagerly awaiting the payment, as it had been a long time since he received the first phase of the subsidy back in 2020. He thanked the partners for thinking of resuming the distribution of the subsidies.
It is worth noting that under this COVID-19 subsidy project in the district of Nacala-Porto, most neighborhoods have already received their payments ahead of the festive season. In fact, this registration project serves as a proof-of-life process for the disbursement of the COVID-19 subsidy. The registration in the Triângulo neighborhood will end next Friday at the House of Leadership, one of the last distribution points for mobile phone cards. (Gabriel Cassimo)
