A woman of unidentified age, residing in Messumba, in the Metangula district of Niassa Province, reportedly suffered blade-inflicted injuries to her genital area at around 5 p.m. last Monday, December 8.
According to witnesses from the Seli neighborhood, where the crime occurred, the woman had called a motorcycle taxi and traveled from Messumba to Metangula to meet her lover. Shortly afterward, her husband was informed, followed her, and was shown the house where she was. He found his wife in the act, engaging in sexual relations with her lover inside the lover’s home.
The man could not restrain himself and decided to take justice into his own hands, using a blade to cut his wife in the genital area. The victim was assisted and taken to the Metangula health center, and by Tuesday afternoon she remained under medical care.
According to sources, both the husband and the lover were detained and are in the custody of the Mozambican Republic Police.
Meanwhile, the district chief physician of Metangula, Osvaldo Piedade, confirmed the woman’s admission to the health center and noted that this is a case that must be brought before judicial authorities.
