Many difficulties in school enrollment in the city of Nacala Porto

It is not easy to obtain school enrollment in the city of Nacala Porto, in Nampula Province. This situation has left students worried, as they remain at the school premises every day without success in completing their enrollment.

According to residents of Nacala Porto, this situation occurs in almost all schools in the city, but Mozanorte confirmed the case yesterday at Cidade Alta Secondary School. The enrollment process began on the 5th of the current month, 2026.

Since the beginning of the process until today, there are students who have not yet managed to enroll due to alleged manipulation by the school administration or those responsible for enrollment. At this school, it is common to enroll only about ten students per day.

Many students have already deposited the enrollment fees at Millennium BIM Bank into the school’s account, but so far they have not been able to complete their enrollment. According to the students, the enrollment fees for Grades 10, 11, and 12 are normal; however, the difficulty lies in the enrollment process itself.

In the first days, it was announced that only students up to the age of 17 could enroll in Grades 10 to 12 in the daytime program. After one week, it was announced that enrollment was open to students of any age. Since the 5th, early in the morning, Cidade Alta Secondary School has been crowded with students.

Even after the age restriction was lifted for the daytime program, obtaining a place requires having a “sponsor” who can facilitate the enrollment process in exchange for payments starting from 2,000 meticais.

Students remain in groups in the school courtyard, lamenting what is happening at the school, and it is unclear what the situation is in other schools. The enrollment fees are standard: 300 meticais for the daytime program and 400 meticais for the nighttime program.

However, the daytime program is the most desired by students, and without money, there is no vacancy. (BP)
