Since April 20 of the current year, the province of Cabo Delgado has been facing a situation that is generating panic and fear among the population.
According to local sources, the problem began in Palma and later spread to Mueda, Mocímboa da Praia, and currently the city of Pemba. The reports concern the mysterious disappearance of genital organs, mainly male, allegedly after being touched by individuals believed to possess magical practices. Initially, cases were reported in neighborhoods and markets such as Emulação and Gingone, but by April 22 the situation had reportedly extended to primary schools, particularly in Natite and Chuiba.
This phenomenon is causing insecurity in the normal movement of residents, as well as fear among children, affecting school attendance.
Meanwhile, the Polícia da República de Moçambique (PRM) has been working to calm the situation, preventing more serious incidents such as beatings and deaths by mob lynching. The police have also been protecting suspects and taking those involved to police stations for further investigation.
According to reports, the main suspects identified by the population include elderly individuals, foreigners, and people who speak languages from the northern region of Cabo Delgado. (Sifa Artur)
