Montes de Malema
This was a crime organized by the victim’s own brothers, which occurred in the administrative post of Mutuali, in Malema district, Nampula province. The incident took place three days ago.
The suspects kidnapped the minor with the aim of forcing the father to pay 200,000 meticais as ransom, but he was unable to raise the demanded amount.
The suspects used an electrical wire, tying it around the minor’s neck until he died. They then placed the body in a 50 kg sack and buried it in a bush area.
According to local sources, six individuals were involved in the act. Some are already in police custody, while others remain at large. The situation has left the population of the Mutuali administrative post and Malema district, in general, deeply distressed.
Some of the suspects, together with local authorities, went to the site where the minor had been buried to exhume the body, claiming they were intoxicated at the time of the crime.
The district command, in coordination with local authorities, is working to locate the remaining suspects who are still at large, in order to hold them criminally accountable.
The district government condemns this type of behavior by the youths involved in this crime. (BP)
